0.30 carats, GIA certified F colour and SI1 clarity, on cathedral shoulders carrying 0.17 carat of D–F pavé, in 18K yellow gold.
Pavé in yellow gold is a different problem from pavé in white, and it is the reason this ring is built the way it is. Small colourless diamonds set into warm metal have contrast working against them: the gold is bright, and the stones have to out-sparkle it rather than sit quietly against a matching background. In white gold a mediocre pavé still reads as a continuous line; in yellow it shows every gap.
So the beads are cut finer here and the stones set closer, and we use D–F material for the pavé rather than the commercial goods most rings at this price carry. The 0.17 carat travels far enough up the cathedral arches to draw the eye along the shoulder instead of stopping abruptly.
The centre is F SI1 — the last colourless grade, with clarity kept at the point where the report notices the inclusions and nobody else does.
