0.51 ct lab grown round brilliant solitaire, D VVS2, in 18K white gold
A 0.51 ct round brilliant lab grown diamond, colour D, clarity VVS2, IGI report LG805609984, set as a plain solitaire in 18K white gold. One ring, made in our Antwerp workshop.
The most affordable ring we make, and what that does not mean
At €965 this is the lowest price in our engagement collection. It is worth being clear about what has been economised and what has not. The stone is colour D and clarity VVS2 — the top of one scale and near the top of the other, the same grades we put in rings costing five times as much. The setting is 18K gold, handmade here, not cast abroad. What is smaller is simply the diamond: half a carat, about 5.1 mm. Nothing here is a lesser version of anything.
Half a carat, in proportion
A 0.51 ct round sits neatly on most hands without overhang and without catching on clothing — the practical argument for this size, and the reason a lot of people who could spend more still choose it. It also stacks well later: if a second band or an anniversary ring joins it, a modest solitaire leaves room where a large one does not.
D VVS2 at this size
Both grades are, frankly, more than the eye requires on a stone of half a carat — nothing at 5 mm shows an inclusion without a loupe, whatever the certificate says. We buy to these grades because it keeps the stone consistent with the rest of what we sell and because the paperwork holds its value. You are not paying a premium for it here.
A plain solitaire
Four claws, a tapered band, nothing else. It is the ring that asks least of you over a lifetime: no pavé to check, no small stones to re-tighten, nothing that dates. If you want the same money to buy more visible sparkle instead, we set the same 0.51 ct D centre on a pavé band, linked below — it adds 0.18 ct along the shoulders and gives up one clarity grade on the centre.
18K white gold
White metal reflects nothing back into a D stone, so the diamond stays exactly as colourless as graded. Ours is 18K, rhodium plated, handmade in the workshop; the plating is refreshed as part of normal servicing.
One piece
A single ring, held in Antwerp, with its IGI report. Ring size and any adjustment to the claws are agreed before the piece leaves the workshop.
