Why the colour reads D–E–F and not simply D
The specification for these earrings gives a range, not a letter. That is deliberate, and it is the honest way to describe any piece built from several small stones.
A colour grade is assigned by a laboratory to one stone, face down, against masterstones, under controlled light. Diamonds of the size used here — eight marquises across a pair — are never submitted individually; the cost of grading would exceed the value of the stone. So no one can hand you a report saying “D” for this pair, and anybody who prints a single letter on a multi-stone piece is quoting a number nobody measured.
What we do instead is match by eye against a reference set, and state the band the eight stones fall within. D–E–F is the colourless range: at this size the difference between its ends is invisible face-up even to a trained eye, which is precisely why a range is the useful statement and a single letter would be theatre. If you want the individual stones photographed against a white card before you buy, ask.
Made to order, in yellow gold
This pair is made when you order it. Eight marquises have to agree with each other — four per ear for the flower to close, and then the two ears have to agree as a pair, which is the harder half of the job. The stones are selected together rather than drawn from stock.
Two to three weeks is the normal lead time. Because the piece is made rather than picked, the petal length can be adjusted slightly if you want the flower wider or more compact; tell us before we start, not after.
What warm metal does to eight small stones
Yellow gold sits against the skin and returns warmth into anything set in it. On a single large stone that effect is confined to the girdle and the claws. Here the metal runs between all four petals on each ear and touches every stone, so the whole rosette picks up a faint warmth that white gold would not give it.
The practical consequence: a D–F stone in yellow gold does not look like a D–F stone in white gold, and it is not supposed to. If you want these diamonds to read as cold and white, the white gold pair is the piece to look at. If you want the flower to read as a warm ornament, this is.

The same flower, elsewhere
