Put plainly: this ring gives you a larger diamond of identical colour for less money, and the only thing you give up is a clarity grade that neither of us can see. VS1 against VS2, honestly
Both are eye-clean — that is the whole of the practical difference. VS1 inclusions are hard for a grader to find at 10x magnification; VS2 inclusions are found at 10x without difficulty but remain invisible to the unaided eye. Neither affects brilliance, durability or resale in any way a buyer would notice. The price gap between them exists because the certificate says something different, not because the diamonds behave differently.
E colour, and why white gold demands it
White gold gives a stone nowhere to hide. A yellow gold setting lends its own warmth and forgives a lower colour grade; cold metal does the opposite and shows any tint. E is the second grade on the scale, below only D, and against white metal it reads as completely colourless.
0.80 ct on the hand
About 6.0 mm across — comfortably into the range where a solitaire announces itself, and half a millimetre off a full carat. The thin shank keeps the proportion in the stone’s favour and leaves room for a wedding band. Rhodium plating refreshed free of charge for the life of the ring.
