1.06 ct lab grown round brilliant solitaire, D VS1, in 18K yellow gold
A 1.06 ct round brilliant lab grown diamond, colour D, clarity VS1, IGI report LG769670561, set as a plain solitaire in 18K yellow gold. One ring, made in our Antwerp workshop.
The largest stone in this group, at the lowest price
1.06 ct is the biggest diamond among our four one-carat rings, and it shares the lowest price with the 1.03 ct in white gold. That is not a discount and there is nothing wrong with the stone — it is what happens when a plain setting meets a shape and metal combination that fewer people ask for. Yellow gold solitaires simply sell more slowly than white ones, and the pricing follows demand rather than quality. If you were going to choose yellow anyway, you are being paid to.
A colourless diamond in yellow gold
Worth being straight about: yellow gold sits against the pavilion and reflects a trace of warmth into the stone, so a D diamond in yellow gold does not read quite as icy as the same stone in white. Anyone who tells you the metal makes no difference is not being honest. What you get in return is contrast — a warm band makes the diamond look brighter and colder by comparison, and the ring reads less clinical than white on white. It is a preference, not a compromise. The white gold equivalents are linked below if you want to see both.
D VS1
Colour D is the top of the scale; VS1 means inclusions require magnification to locate and are invisible to the eye. On a plain solitaire, where nothing distracts, those two grades are the whole specification — the stone has to hold up alone, and this one does.
Why a round brilliant
The round brilliant is the only cut designed from optics rather than tradition: 57 facets at angles calculated to return the maximum light through the table. It is also the shape that wastes the most rough, which is why rounds cost more per carat than fancy shapes. What you buy is brilliance no other outline matches — and in yellow gold that brightness has something to play against.
18K yellow gold
75% gold, handmade in the workshop. Yellow gold needs no plating, so unlike white gold there is no rhodium to refresh — it simply develops a softer surface with wear, which most people prefer and which we can polish back at any time.
One piece
A single ring, held in Antwerp, with its IGI report. Ring size and any adjustment to the claws are agreed before the piece leaves the workshop.
