In a tennis bracelet, colour consistency matters more than colour grade
This is where a bracelet differs from a ring, and almost nobody explains it. In a solitaire you look at one stone: it is colourless or it is not, and you have nothing to compare it against. In a tennis bracelet dozens of stones lie side by side across a few centimetres — and the eye is excellent at spotting differences and poor at judging absolute colour.
One stone half a grade warmer than its neighbours is immediately visible, even though that same stone worn alone would look faultless. So in a tennis bracelet what you are really buying is not a colour grade but a narrow band: the closer the stones sit to each other in colour, the quieter the line. D–F is the narrowest band we work in, and the reason this bracelet stays white instead of warming up here and there.
Two carats: still a line, not yet a row of stones
Spread over 17.5 centimetres, the individual stones at this weight stay small. That is not a shortfall, it is the character: the bracelet reads as a continuous line of light rather than a series of countable diamonds. It sits flat against the wrist, slides under a cuff, and does not announce itself as jewellery you deliberately put on.
It is also the weight at which a tennis bracelet stays wearable every day. At close to four carats the stones become individually visible and the piece changes character — better in the evening, less obvious on a working day.
How it is built
Each stone sits in its own box setting in four claws, the boxes hinged to one another. That lets the bracelet follow the wrist rather than stand over it, and lets one stone be replaced without opening up the rest. The clasp carries an additional safety catch — on a bracelet you cannot feel, that is necessity rather than luxury.
