14.30 ct lab grown fancy yellow diamond eternity ring in 18K yellow gold
Thirteen lab grown fancy yellow diamonds, cushion cut, each one over a carat, set the complete way round an 18K yellow gold band. 14.30 ct in total. A single ring, made in our Antwerp workshop.
Thirteen stones, every one above a carat
At roughly 1.10 ct each these are not accent stones. A cushion of that weight measures around 6.3 mm across, and thirteen of them fill the circumference of the finger completely — there is no gold visible from above, only diamond. It is the point at which an eternity ring stops being a band and becomes the piece you are wearing. Compared with the 6.48 ct version, which reads as one continuous line of colour, this reads as thirteen separate large diamonds, and that is a genuinely different object on the hand.
At this size you see the cut, not only the colour
Below half a carat a coloured diamond is mostly a patch of colour; the eye takes in the hue and little else. Above a carat that changes. The facet pattern becomes legible, the cushion’s open table shows its flashes individually, and any difference in make between one stone and the next is visible without a loupe. So is clarity: inclusions that would vanish in a 0.30 ct stone have room to show at 1.10 ct. Stones for a ring like this have to be selected on cut and clarity as well as colour, which is why matched parcels at this weight are the hardest part of the job — and why lab grown material, where a single growth run can yield thirteen consistent stones, makes the piece feasible at all.
The best price per carat of the three
€10,790 for 14.30 ct is about €755 per carat. The 10.50 ct ring is €784 and the 6.48 ct is €969. That ordering is the reverse of what mined diamonds do, where every step up in size costs disproportionately more per carat — here the larger stones carry less setting work per carat, and the pricing follows the piece rather than the stone. Purely on carat cost, this is the strongest of the three. What you accept in exchange is a ring with real presence: wider, heavier, and not a quiet thing to wear.
Weight, wear and valuation
A band carrying fourteen carats of diamond has noticeable mass, and it sits higher off the finger than a smaller eternity does — something to feel on the hand before deciding, particularly if you intend to wear it daily. Like any full eternity it cannot be resized, since there is no plain gold to cut. And at this value it is worth insuring specifically rather than under a general contents policy; we provide a written valuation with the ring for that purpose.
18K yellow gold
Yellow gold reflects back through the pavilion and deepens the body colour of the stones. With diamonds this large the effect is subtle but consistent — white gold would cool them and set them apart from the band instead. Ours is 18K, 75% gold, handmade.
One piece
A single ring, held in Antwerp. Ring size and any adjustment to the setting are agreed before the piece leaves the workshop.
