Four carats is where the line becomes stones
This is the weight at which a tennis bracelet changes character, and the shift is not gradual. At two carats over the same length the individual stones stay small enough to merge: you see a continuous line of light. Double the weight across those same 17.5 centimetres and each stone becomes noticeably wider — you now see diamonds, not a line.
In practice that means three things. The bracelet catches light in separate flashes rather than an even glow, and that reads from further away. It stands slightly higher on the wrist and goes less quietly under a cuff. And it is, honestly, less obvious on a working day. If you want a bracelet you put on in the morning and forget, two carats serves you better.
F–G, and why it is right here
In a tennis bracelet you are not buying a colour grade but a band: the closer the stones sit in colour, the quieter the row. F–G is a narrow band just below colourless, at the top of what is called near colourless.
Against white metal the difference from D–F is a nuance you can see side by side and barely on its own. What you get back for it is weight: at this price F–G buys appreciably more carat than D–F would. On a piece whose presence comes from the whole row rather than from one stone, that is usually the better trade.
VS1 to VS2 across dozens of stones
Clarity is quoted as a range rather than a single grade. That is not sloppiness: across dozens of stones, grading is done by parcel, not stone by stone. VS means inclusions are visible under ten times magnification and not to the naked eye — and at this stone size, moving on a wrist, the difference between VS1 and VS2 is not perceptible.
How it is built
Each stone in its own box setting in four claws, the boxes hinged to one another so the bracelet follows the wrist. The clasp carries an additional safety catch. Shortening or lengthening is possible.
