East-west marquise diamond ring, 0.53 ct G VS1, 18K yellow gold
An HRD-certified natural marquise-cut diamond of 0.53 ct, colour G, clarity VS1, bezel set east-west on a bypass band in 18K yellow gold. Made in our Antwerp workshop.
East-west: the stone lies across the finger
A marquise is almost always set north-south, its two points running up and down the finger, because that elongates the hand. Turned ninety degrees it does something else entirely: the stone spans the finger, the eye reads width instead of length, and the ring becomes architectural rather than traditional. It is a small decision with a large effect, and it is the reason this ring looks like nothing else in the case.
Why a bezel, and why it matters on this shape
The two points of a marquise are the most vulnerable part of any diamond — thin, exposed, and the place where chips begin. A bezel wraps metal completely around the girdle and over both tips, which is the only setting that truly protects them. Claws would leave the points proud and at risk. Here the bezel is not a compromise for safety; the gold outline traces the marquise silhouette and becomes the design.
The bypass band
The shank does not meet the bezel head-on. It sweeps past on both sides and curves around the stone, so the ring has no visible join and no shoulders — one continuous line of gold that happens to hold a diamond in the middle. It also means the band sits flush against a wedding ring on either side without the gap a raised setting creates.
G VS1, HRD certified
G is the top of the near-colourless range and reads white in yellow gold without hesitation. VS1 puts the inclusions beyond what a grader easily finds at 10x. The certificate is HRD — the Antwerp laboratory, founded in this city and the standard European reference alongside GIA. Certificate number is listed in the specifications.
