0.51 carats, GIA certified E colour and VS2 clarity, set on a twisted band of 18K white gold.
This is the heaviest of the four twist shanks we build, and it completes a ladder worth understanding as a whole. At 0.20 carats the crossing strands are most of what the eye reads; at 0.30 they lift the stone and draw a shadow line beneath it; at 0.40 the diamond leads and the twist turns into structure. Here, past half a carat, the shank has become almost purely architectural — it holds the stone away from the finger and gives the profile a diagonal, and asks for no attention of its own.
Choose the weight for the stone, then; the shank behaves differently at each one but never competes.
E is the second colourless grade. VS2 is the last clarity grade that is reliably eye-clean at this size, which makes it the efficient stopping point — above it you buy report, not appearance.
The rest of the ladder: 0.40 ct E SI1, 0.30 ct F VS2, 0.20 ct F VS1.
